Homebrew and system package managers

Proxy settings for brew, apt and dnf.

Homebrew (macOS / Linux)

Homebrew downloads with curl, which reads the environment variables:

bash
export ALL_PROXY=http://127.0.0.1:7898
brew update && brew install <formula>

apt (Debian / Ubuntu)

bash
echo 'Acquire::http::Proxy "http://127.0.0.1:7898";
Acquire::https::Proxy "http://127.0.0.1:7898";' | sudo tee /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/95coderboost

System package sources are usually already set to a nearby mirror, so apt rarely needs a proxy. Only PPAs and third-party sources (such as the official Docker or NodeSource repositories) do.

dnf / yum

/etc/dnf/dnf.conf:

ini
proxy=http://127.0.0.1:7898
